No Freedom Without Confrontation 3 of 3

After I came to know Jesus, the LORD revealed many lies that I had always believed and lived by…and over time, He took me through a change of mind regarding them. If you remember what I talked about in the last two of this series regarding love and boundaries, it is doable to be made whole. I mentioned what happened with my mom and grandma and that trip where a man touched me inappropriately. Listen, the truth is that my mom really did love me, and though that man was wrong in his action, all men were certainly not out to hurt me. No, Mom was not perfect and what that man did to me was terribly wrong. Indeed, I was a victim and that experience lead me down a pathway of loneliness and need. Yet, it was still my own response to them that trapped me in a web of lies. So, I changed my mind and chose not to believe those things anymore. Sounds simple right? Of course it was not simple, but it was and is possible to those who belong to and believe in the Lord Jesus Christ. I had to come face-to-face with those lies in order to be free from them and in order to be in Truth. There is no freedom without confrontation.

What is it that John 8:32 said? “And you will know the Truth, and the Truth will set you free.”

Why do you suppose we cry out for His Truth yet don’t experience His freedom? I think it all has to do with the context of that verse. What does verse 31 say?

John 8:31…if you abide in My Word (hold fast to My teachings and live in accordance with them), you are truly My disciples”…and then verse 32 – and you will know the Truth and the TRUTH SHALL SET YOU FREE!

In order for us to taste real freedom and live in freedom, we must hold fast to Him and His Word and the Way He does things! God really can make us free from wrong thinking. He can show us what in our hearts is of Him, and He can show us what inside of us is of us! All we have to do is ask Him, and He is quick to respond to our desire to repent.

Freedom is not a one-time event. It is daily walking out Truth. Freedom is a process, so be encouraged that you are on your way to freedom! The fact that you are reading this shows you are on the path to freedom.

Has God ever shown you something you believe that is actually a lie? What did you do? How did you respond?

Pray with me – God, thank You that You want me whole and free and UNAFRAID! You want me BRAVE! So, help me #bebraver in life and in living and in loving in Jesus name. Heal me Father and I will be healed. Love me and I will be loved. Help me and I will be helped. Love through me and the world will be changed for the better in Jesus name. Amen.
